TNI on Alert 1, Conflict Escalates in the Middle East

PASUNDAN POS ■ JAKARTA — The escalating conflict in the Middle East has prompted TNI Headquarters to order all ranks to be on alert 1.
This was stated in the TNI Commander's Telegram Letter Number TR/283/2026, an order effective from March 1, 2026, until its expiration.
The Head of the TNI Information Center (Kapuspen), Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, explained that his agency was only carrying out its duties in accordance with the mandate of the TNI Law.
One of its main duties is to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia's territory from threats and disturbances to the integrity of the nation and state.
"I need to convey that, as mandated by the TNI Law, one of the TNI's main duties is to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia's territory from threats and disturbances to the integrity of the nation and state," he said in Jakarta on Saturday (March 7).
Meanwhile, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto emphasized seven points.
First, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Main Operations Command must place personnel and main weapons systems (alutsista) on alert and conduct patrols at vital strategic locations.
"Economic centers, airports, seaports, river ports, trains, buses, PLN, etc.," the telegram stated.
Second, the National Air Defense Command must conduct early detection and continuous 24-hour aerial surveillance.
Third, the Indonesian National Armed Forces Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) instructed defense attachés in affected countries to record, map, and plan the evacuation of Indonesian citizens if necessary, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian Embassies, and relevant authorities, in accordance with the escalation in the Middle East region.
Fourth, the Jaya/Jayakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya) conducted patrols at vital strategic locations and embassies.
Fifth, intelligence units conducted early detection and prevention efforts to prevent groups from exploiting developments in the Middle East to destabilize the domestic situation.
Sixth, the Central Intelligence Agency (Balakpus) has implemented a high alert level in each unit.
"Seventh, report any developments to the TNI Commander as soon as possible," the telegram read. (Puspen TNI)
